Sandhya's husband Jaiprakash Singh, who is the central excise commissioner in Indore, reached Mumbai on Wednesday after a police a skeleton was found in Navi Mumbai. Sandhya's brothers, musician duo Jatin and Lalit Pandit, had on Tuesday claimed it could be Sandhya's.
Singh said given the attitude by the Nerul police so far, he did not trust them to investigate the case well. "The police should have taken the case more seriously, instead of assuming that she might have left on her own with someone. We will demand an independent investigation by the crime branch or another body. I am discussing the same with my family," Singh told Newsline.
Singh also confirmed that several ornaments on the skeleton belonged to Sandhya, and said he was certain that the skeleton was hers. "I haven't seen the skeleton myself, but my son has. It bears the rudraksh bead, wig as well as a sacred thread that she tied around her arm," he said.
Sandhya left along with gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh, which she was going to deposit in a bank in Navi Mumbai, in December last year but never returned.
